We are funded by members and people like you. We are independent of any political ideology, economic interest or religion. No government is beyond scrutiny. No situation is beyond hope.

Students Tilburg Amnesty International is a student group that is part of Amnesty International - a global movement of  people fighting bad guys. In more than 150 countries, we campaign for justice, freedom, human dignity and equality. Our work protects and empowers people – from abolishing the death penalty to championing freedom of expression, and from protecting the rights of migrants and refugees to fighting political violence and persecution.

We have four committees: Actions That Matter Committee, Symposium Committee, Activities Committee, and Arts & Culture Committee

ACTIONS THAT MATTER COMMITTEE

The Actions That Matter committee organises various action-oriented and practical events. These events are very diverse, thus allowing members a lot of space to be creative and innovative with their ideas their ideas. ​

This committee has organised events like a clothing donation event for refugees in Greece, fundraising events including the annual collection week, and informative events on how individuals can make conscious choices in the world of fast fashion as well as in their food choices. Additionally, the committee  organises late night events, which are more informal discussion type events with experts; previous topics have included gender violence, statelessness, business and human rights.The Actions That Matter committee organises various action-oriented and practical events. These events are very diverse, thus allowing members a lot of space to be creative and innovative with their ideas their ideas. ​
 

SYMPOSIUM COMMITTEE

The Symposium committee organises a big symposium once a year with very interesting speakers and knowledgeable experts.

​These symposia are focused on informing a large audience, often exceeding a hundred people on pressing human rights issues such as refugee crisis and the hidden price of your data. Additionally, this committee organises respectful discussion evenings on more controversial topics such as the right to abortion and capital punishment.

ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE

The Activities committee organises educational trips and bonding activities. This committee has previously organised trips to the Anne Frank Museum, Women’s March in Amsterdam and to Amnesty International the Netherlands Headquarters in Amsterdam for masterclasses, which are exclusively provided to Amnesty International student group members. Additionally, the committee organises human rights oriented game nights, put-locks and pub-quizzes.

ARTS & CULTURE COMMITTEE

The 'Arts and Culture Committee' is the newest initiative by STAI. This Committee aims to make the connection between activisme and any form of expression brought up through Art and cultural movements. Here, there are no limits, we use all elements of creativity, imagination and critical thinking to deliver social justice.

The Arts and Culture Committee has a book club and organizes events discussing movies, art, activists, cultural phenomena, and anything else related to human rights and arts and culture.
