Principle of editorial independence

The department of Culture Studies of Tilburg University is the publisher of Diggit Magazine

Diggit Magazine has an editorial team consisting of DCU members who teach in the BA Online Culture and the MA programs in Culture Studies; and an editorial board. The composition of the editorial board is decided upon at the start of each academic year.

Diggit Magazine has an editor-in-chief who leads the editorial board; every three years there is the possibility of electing a new editor-in-chief from the editorial board.

Diggit Magazine has an independent editorial council of at the least five (internal and external) members; the council is consulted by the editor-in-chief in case of complaints that cannot be solved by the editor in chief representing the editorial team. The composition of the editorial council is decided upon at the start of each academic year.

Diggit Magazine is an independent e-zine: there is no relationship of control between the editors (in their capacity of editors) and the institutional context of TiU, TSH or DCU.

The editorial process, the decisions that follow from this process and the handling of complaints regarding this process are dealt with by the editors.

In case of complaints that cannot be solved by the editors, the editorial council is informed and asked for their opinion and conclusions. The conclusions of the editorial council are binding.
