Academics describe the manosphere as “a particularly toxic brand of anti-feminism”. It is a place where promoting rape is acceptable, but saying you hate women is not. This essay examines linguistic structures within the manosphere .

This paper aims to explore the linguistic landscape of Twitch.tv. Three different emotes taken from three streams are analysed. The results indicate that the usage of these emotes is universal; that they are highly mobile and complex.
