According to professor José van Dijck, we live in a platform society. And in this society, it's not entirely clear who is responsible for all sorts of (digital) phenomena. Think for instance of issues like fake news and hate speech. Some people might want to blame Facebook for these things, but according to van Dijck, it's impossible that Facebook is solely responsible. And therefore, the company should not be the only organisation tasked with solving the issues. In this video, van Dijck discusses topics like shared responsibilities in a digital environment, the impact of dataflows on our society and her newest book The Platform Society, which she wrote with Thomas Poell and Martijn de Waal.
